Piles of black bin bags are lining the streets of Birmingham as the city continues to grapple with a prolonged bin strike. What began as a disruption in January escalated into an all-out strike on 11 March, with waste now accumulating across neighbourhoods. Residents have reported disturbing scenes, including “rats as big as cats”, roaming among uncollected rubbish.
In response to the worsening situation, Sky News joined Vergo’s own Joseph Mchale on the ground to investigate the surge in rat activity across the city. The segment, aired nationally, shines a light on the hidden dangers of uncollected waste, and the essential role pest control plays in protecting public health.
