Find out more CLOSEVergo’s 2023 annual Christmas raffle was bigger and better than ever, with thousands of pounds worth off prizes up for grabs for our colleagues to win. This year we decided to sell raffle tickets to fundraise for a fantastic cause, The Trussell Trust.
We exceeded our initial target and raised an impressive £1250 in ticket sales. In addition to this, Vergo matched the £1250 raised so our total donations to the Trussell Trust was an impressive £2500!
Who are The Trussell Trust?
More than 14 million people in the UK live below the poverty line, The Trussell Trust support a nationwide network of food banks and provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
There are more than 1,200 food bank centres in their network, about two thirds of the food banks in the UK. They support these food banks to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis (for instance by advice agencies, GPs, social services and schools), as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face. Last year they distributed over 2.1 million emergency food parcels of which 832,000 went to children.
Their goal for the next 5 years is a fairer society where nobody wonders where their next meal is coming from or must rely on the kindness of their community in order to put food on their table.
