A major UK-based distribution centre (DC) servicing a national retail chain was experiencing persistent rodent activity across the entire facility. Despite ongoing baiting and trapping programmes, the issue remained unresolved due to the nature and scale of the infestation.
The root cause of the rodent problem was traced to an internal compound used for handling returned waste. This area, which saw constant activity, had two frequently used doors. These doors allowed rodents, often transported in with the waste, to escape into the broader distribution centre, leading to a site-wide infestation that had been ongoing for an extended period.
To address the issue at its source, it was proposed that the PowerShield system be installed on both doorways of the waste compound. The PowerShield rail uses a low-energy pulsating electromagnetic force field to humanely deter rodents from crossing the protected threshold.
The goal was to:
The installation of the PowerShield system proved to be a highly effective containment solution. Its ability to prevent rodents from migrating beyond the waste compound has drastically reduced the need for frequent site-wide pest control visits. As a result, the distribution centre can now maintain rodent control with reduced service frequency, delivering both operational and financial benefits to the client.
The PowerShield system is specially designed for high-risk entry points such as shop doorways, loading bays, and warehouse doors. The PowerShield Rail creates an invisible barrier that rodents will not cross – all without harmful chemicals. It’s a safe, sustainable approach to rodent prevention that protects both your premises and the environment.
