Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)

Sustainability is at the heart of Vergo’s operations. As one of the largest national pest management companies in the UK, Vergo is uniquely positioned to drive positive change across the industry by embedding robust Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into every aspect of our business.

Our mission is to minimise environmental impact while delivering exceptional service to our clients. We have committed to concrete actions, such as long-term objectives to electrify our entire vehicle fleet to support decarbonisation and promote a sustainable future.

Our Key ESG Principles:

  1. Annual Sustainability Reporting
We publish transparent reports outlining our progress in reducing environmental impact and advancing ESG initiatives across the business.
  2. Leadership Accountability
ESG priorities are championed by senior management and board members, ensuring company-wide alignment and effective implementation.
  3. Collaborative Innovation
We work closely with customers and supply chain partners to identify and implement cutting-edge sustainability initiatives.

Vergo’s ESG Focus Areas:

Our approach is driven by three interconnected pillars: Environmental, Social, and Governance. These focus areas guide our strategy and actions to ensure meaningful, measurable impact.

Environmental

  • Climate Change Mitigation and Energy
We’re transitioning to renewable energy and electrifying our fleet to reduce CO2 emissions. By working across our value chain, we aim to drive sustainable practices and reduce our overall carbon footprint.
  • Waste Management
We carefully manage substances used in pest control to prevent environmental harm and protect public health.
  • Non-Toxic Pest Control
    • Vergo’s Landmark Wildlife Services division provides humane, non-toxic pest control solutions that protect biodiversity while addressing pest challenges responsibly. Our Landmark team was awarded the Sustainability Initiative of the Year award at the National Pest Awards 2023. This recognition marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to eco-friendly and responsible pest and wildlife management practices.
    • Advanced Technology – Vergo employs innovative, environmentally friendly solutions such as Pest Alert Sight, Pest Alert Sentry and Vergo PowerShield to deliver effective, non-toxic pest control.

  • Carbon Reduction
    • Foot Technicians: By deploying foot-based technicians in urban areas, we further reduce vehicle emissions, promote healthier lifestyles, and minimise our environmental impact in densely populated locations.
    • Vergo LED EcoFly: Our energy-efficient LED EcoFly Insect Light Trap (ILT) not only reduce carbon emissions but also provide effective fly control solutions for clients, significantly lowering energy consumption compared to traditional units.

Social

  • Employee Well-being and Inclusion
We cultivate a positive work environment by providing continuous learning and development opportunities and promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Health and Safety
Robust health and safety measures are central to our operations, ensuring the well-being of employees, the communities we serve, and the highest standards of service quality – critical to building long-term trust and satisfaction.
  • Local Social & Environmental Impact
With over 400 employees across all geographical regions of the UK, Vergo is committed to making a positive social impact in local communities and environments. We empower our workforce by providing the tools and resources necessary to support social and environmental initiatives that matter to them and are beneficial to their local communities.
  • Local Sourcing Initiatives
We prioritise sourcing products and services from local suppliers wherever possible, supporting local economies, reducing transport-related emissions, and fostering strong community relationships.

Governance

  • Corporate Culture
Vergo is committed to integrity and ethical practices, promoting a culture that mitigates risks and promotes accountability at every level. Our Modern Slavery Policy underscores our commitment to ethical business practices. We actively assess and manage risks in our supply chain, ensuring fair treatment, transparent practices, and zero tolerance for exploitation or forced labour.

Our Sustainability Commitment

To ensure transparency and accountability, Vergo’s Sustainability Report details our progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and meeting sustainability goals in line with the GHG Protocol—the gold standard for emissions reporting.
