The Problem:

In a social housing property consisting of 49 dwellings, a bed bug infestation was reported in 11 units, a significant 22% of the entire property. Given the communal nature of the living arrangements, with shared facilities such as laundry rooms, it was deemed necessary to extend the treatment to the whole building.

Our Solution:

The solution employed to control the infestation was Vergo’s Insectotherm heat treatment for bed bugs.

Heat treatments provide exceptional results when treating bed bug infestations due to the treatment eradicating all life stages, from eggs and larvae to pupae and adults.

Implementation: The treatment took place over a period of 9.5 days, during which the heat team addressed up to 6 dwellings each day, eventually covering all rooms and shared areas. As the treatment progressed, it became apparent that the infestation was more widespread than initially assessed, extending beyond the originally identified 11 rooms. This discovery affirmed the decision to conduct a comprehensive heat treatment of the entire premises.
Post Treatment: To validate the effectiveness of the heat treatment, follow-up visits were scheduled at intervals of 4 and 8 weeks post-treatment. During these visits, all rooms were surveyed and treated with an insecticidal spray to mitigate any potential resurgence of the infestation. Additionally, a 12-week warranty was issued to address any possible sightings and to assure tenants of a bed-bug-free living environment.

The Results:

Through the treatment the team managed to systematically address and eliminate the bed bug infestation, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the tenants. The effectiveness of the treatment could be seen as no further infestations were reported during the follow-up visits, indicating a successful eradication of bed bugs from the premises.
