What a wonderful day at GOSH’s annual Play Street Festival on Friday 22 September. With the sun shining down, the street outside the hospital transformed into a lively, colourful carnival, complete with music, entertainers, games, laughter, and wonder for patients, families, and children from the local area to join for an afternoon of play.
Electra – Vergo’s Showstopping Hawk
Vergo’s hawking team attended the festival, and Electra, our majestic Harris Hawk, was a showstopper, captivating children and adults with her beauty. Alongside Electra stood Matt Forward, our resident falconer, full of knowledge and passion. Matt answered lots of questions and informed people about Electra and her essential role at Vergo, deterring pest birds like pigeons and gulls from nesting.
Being a part of the GOSH Play Street Festival was a beautiful reminder of the magic that can be created when communities come together. Events like these remind us of the importance of play, joy, and learning. Electra and the team are already looking forward to next year’s festival!
