During mating, the male bed bug pierces the female’s abdomen with his reproductive organ and inserts sperm into her body. The sperm then fertilises the eggs that the female lays.
Female bed bugs lay their eggs in cracks and crevices close to their hiding places and can typically lay up to 5 eggs per day. Appearance wise bed bug eggs are small, oval-shaped, and white, and they are approximately 1mm in length, and can be compare to a grain of rice. To ensure the eggs stay in place until they hatch, the female bed bug will glue the eggs to the surface where they are laid.
