Significant changes to rodent control practices in England in the form of glue boards are now prohibited for general use under the Glue Traps (Offences) Act 2022. At Vergo Pest Management, we can help you navigate these changes while ensuring effective solutions for managing rodents.
What Is the Glue Board Ban?
Glue boards, also known as glue traps, are flat, sticky surfaces designed to trap rodents by immobilising them. While effective, they have been criticised for causing unnecessary suffering to rodents. Which has led to the government’s decision to outlaw their general use in England. From 31 July 2024, it is against the law to use glue traps to catch rodents unless you have a licence.
Why Are Glue Boards Being Banned?
The ban is part of a wider effort to promote humane pest control practices. While glue boards are effective in certain situations, they have been criticised for causing prolonged distress to trapped animals, not just rodents but also non-target species like birds and insects. By restricting their use, the government aims to encourage more humane and environmentally friendly pest management methods.
